Heavy snowfall in the United States and Japan has killed 51 people and injured dozens, while load shedding has also disconnected thousands of houses.
Buffalo, the second largest city in the United States, is currently suffering from a crisis where a snowstorm has engulfed the city and killed 34 people.
Buffalo has eight feet (2.4 meters) of snow and power outages. In these circumstances, the rescue staff is unable to reach the most affected areas.
"This is like going to a war area," says Buffalo resident New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
He told reporters Sunday evening that residents are still suffering from a "very dangerous situation". They warned people to stay indoors.
Due to the severe cold, 34 deaths have been confirmed in nine states, four of whom were killed in Colorado and 12 in New York.

According to officials, rescue workers recovered bodies under vehicles and snowfall in the Buffalo area of snow.
The city's international airport is closed until Tuesday and driving is maintained.
Meanwhile, hundreds of vehicles were trapped on the roads on Saturday in the northern parts of Japan, which affected the delivery system, and 11 people were killed.
According to the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, the death toll on Monday morning increased to 17, and 93 were injured. Many of them died of snow from the roof or died under the roof's snow.
Authorities have instructed residents of the snow-affected areas to remove the snow and not work alone.
