14 people were killed and 24 Prisoners made their escape
Armed men attacked a prison in the northern border city of Mexico, Ciudad Juarez, killing at least 14 people and allowing 24 prisoners to escape.
The prosecutor's office said in a statement on Sunday that the attackers arrived at the jail in several armored vehicles at 7am local time and opened fire on the guards. In the chaos after that, 10 prison guards and four prisoners were killed.
The state prosecutor said at least 13 people were injured. Inside the Jail, some rioters set fire to various items and clashed with prison guards.
The state prosecutor's office said that Mexican troops and state police later regained control of the jail on Sunday.
The office said at least four people were detained, without saying whether they were prisoners or armed attackers.
The prosecutor said it was not yet clear who had attacked, two drivers were also killed as a result of another armed attack in the city, but whether there was any mutual connection between the three attacks.
