Cypriot President Nicos Christodoulides arrived in Cairo on Wednesday. According to Al-Sisi's office, the Egyptian and Cypriot presidents first held a bilateral meeting and discussed the delegations of the two countries and agreed to establish a joint business council.
The Egyptian president also said the two sides discussed cooperation in the gas sector, including plans to interconnect the power grid and deliver Cypriot gas to Egypt's two liquefaction plants.
Egypt is my second foreign visit after Greece. It is symbolic and of great importance, as it fully reflects our clear political will to further strengthen our cooperation, which we see as a strategic partnership between Egypt and Cyprus.
The Cypriot President added that the parties are ready to promote cooperation in energy, security, trade, investment, and tourism.
