Canadian writer and director Sarah Polley received her Academy Award for Best Female Actor in Los Angeles last month - starring Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Ben Whishaw, and Frances McDormand.
Canadian writer and director Sarah Polley was asked to return the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay after her 11-year-old child called the award a "mistake" in an April Fool's joke.
The letter states that Polly has "one more week to enjoy" but then must "ship her back to L.A. where we will give her the best-adapted screenplay, All Quiet on the Western Front." He continued: "We're sorry for your loss, but it's only fair that the original best-adapted screenplay wins the Oscar."
Polly tweeted a picture of the letter, captioning it: "My 11-year-old got short for April Fool's Day this year."
