China on Monday congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his victory in the historic run-off vote.
"China congratulates President Erdogan on his re-election and attaches great importance to its relations with Turkey," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said during his regular briefing at the IPC.
The spokesman said that China supported Turkey's development path according to national conditions and hoped that Turkey would continue to achieve new achievements in its development under the leadership of President Erdogan.
"In recent years, under the guidance of the two heads of state, the two countries have achieved fruitful cooperation in various fields, benefiting both our peoples."
Mao Ning said that
China is ready to work together with Turkey to take our strategic cooperative relationship to new heights.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the presidential race with 52.14 percent of the vote, extending his two-decade rule.
