Honda announced on the 19th that it will release the electric scooter "EM1 e:" on August 24th, which will be the first personal model in Japan. The total price is 299,200 yen including the battery and charger. It is expected to be used by a wide range of age groups for commuting, going to school, shopping, etc., and aims to sell 3,000 units in Japan annually.
Equipped with a replaceable battery, it can travel 53 kilometers on a single charge when traveling at 30 kilometers per hour on a flat road. Used batteries are collected and recycled at about 560 registered stores nationwide.
The company has sold a total of about 10,000 electric two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles to corporations and plans to start handling corporate models for the general public in June.
