Elon Musk's Imposed Daily Limits on Tweet Viewing Causes Service Issues for Twitter Users

Thousands of user complaints on Saturday as Twitter users encountered difficulties accessing the platform. The source of the problem was attributed to Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, who implemented new restrictions that limited most users to viewing only 600 tweets per day. Musk explained that these limitations were implemented in an effort to prevent unauthorized scraping of potentially valuable data from the site.

The impact of this crackdown became apparent early on Saturday, as over 7,500 individuals reported issues with using the popular social media service. Although this number may seem relatively small compared to Twitter's vast user base of over 200 million worldwide users, the problem was widespread enough to prompt the trending of the hashtag #TwitterDown in certain regions.

The disruptions to the service occurred shortly after Twitter introduced a new requirement, mandating users to log in to access tweets and profiles. This policy change marked a departure from the platform's longstanding practice of allowing unrestricted browsing for all individuals. Elon Musk, who acquired Twitter Web for a staggering $44 billion last year, often refers to the platform as the world's digital town square.
