Russian Air Strikes Target Ukraine's South and East with Drones and Missiles, Confirms Ukraine's Air Force

Ukraine's Air Force and officials have reported that Russia conducted overnight air strikes on the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, utilizing drones and potentially ballistic missiles.

Late on Monday, a fire erupted at a facility in the port of Mykolaiv, according to the city mayor. Mykolaiv is a crucial port city that provides Ukraine with access to the Black Sea.

Mayor Oleksandr Senkevich described the fire as a significant incident and stated that more information would be available in the morning.

The Ukrainian Air Force issued alerts on the Telegram messaging app, warning that the southern port of Odesa and the regions of Mykolaiv, Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk were under threat of Russian drone attacks. They also suggested that Russia might employ ballistic weaponry to target the regions of Poltava, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Kirovohrad.

These reports have not been independently verified by Reuters.

Air raid alarms sounded for several hours in numerous Ukrainian regions but were eventually called off at approximately 04:30 a.m. local time (0130 GMT).

Oleh Kiper, the head of the Odesa region's military administration, confirmed that air defense systems in Odesa were deployed to repel multiple waves of Russian drone attacks.

Serhiy Bratchuk, a spokesperson for Ukraine's Odesa military administration, stated on the Telegram messaging app that further details regarding the attack would be provided later in the morning.

No immediate response from Russia regarding the attack has been reported.

Earlier on Monday, a blast caused damage to the Crimean Bridge, which links Russia to the Crimean Peninsula annexed by Moscow from Ukraine in 2014. Russia attributed the incident to a strike by Ukrainian sea drones and vowed to retaliate.
