In collaboration with UmbraCity, a leading Canadian smart umbrella service company, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a "free" smart umbrella service at Al Ghaibah Metro and Bus Station. If successful, the service will be extended to other metro and bus stations after three months.

Aligned with the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040, the initiative underscores Dubai's commitment to promoting a sustainable, healthy, and inclusive urban environment, RTA said in a press release on Saturday.
By integrating cutting-edge technology with practical urban solutions, RTA and UmbraCity are taking significant steps to fulfill Dubai's ambition to become the world's most liveable city, improving the quality of life and The happiness of the people.
Passengers can now avail of free umbrellas at designated points using their Nol card. The service is designed to support Dubai's goal of creating a "20-minute city", where residents can access their daily needs within 20 minutes by foot or bike, promoting community and well-being. Khalid Al-Awadi, Director of Transport Systems at the RTA Public Transport Agency, stressed the importance of encouraging the use of smart umbrellas, which are provided free of charge when rented with a Nol card. He said this initiative contributes to the creation of vibrant, healthy, and inclusive communities across Dubai. The RTA, which is currently installed at Al Ghabiba metro station for three months, will evaluate its success before considering an extension.
