Sindh government has decided to changed the names of four districts of Karachi division.
Karachi West District will be renamed Orangi District, indicating a shift towards more local naming conventions.
There are also plans to rename Karachi Central District to Nazimabad District, a move expected to be welcomed by local residents.
Continuing this trend, Karachi East District will be renamed Gulshan District, while Karachi South District will be simplified to Karachi District.
The authorities have chosen to retain the existing names of District Malir, District Korangi, and District Kemari.
