A three-member delegation from the US Embassy visited Adiala Jail to meet convict Zahir Jafar, who was sentenced to death in 2022 for killing Noor Muqadam, the daughter of a former bureaucrat.
US embassy officials were apparently given access to Jafar and met him in the prison superintendent's room.
Jail officials said the meeting was part of consular access to Jafar, who also holds US citizenship.
In February 2022, a sessions court in the country's federal capital sentenced Zahir Jafar to death for killing Noor Muqadam.

District and Sessions Judge Atta Rabbani pronounced the reserved judgment. The court also sentenced two employees named Jameel and Jan Muhammad to 10 years imprisonment while the accused Tahir Zahoor was acquitted.
The convict later filed a petition against the death sentence in the Islamabad High Court, but the petition was rejected in April 2023. He filed a petition against his conviction in the Supreme Court.
Noor Muqaddam, daughter of former ambassador, was beheaded on 20 July 2021 in the F-7 zone of Islamabad. The deceased was the daughter of Shaukat Moghadam, who has been Pakistan's ambassador to South Korea and Kazakhstan.
Islamabad police arrested accused Zahir Zakir Jafar from his house on the night of July 20, where, according to Noor's parents, he killed her with a sharp instrument and cut off her head.
