Police have arrested Pir Zaheer Hassan Shah, the Deputy Amir of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), for threatening Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa. Pir Zaheer Hassan Shah was captured from Okara, where he had been hiding.
An FIR had been registered against Pir Zaheer Hassan Shah at Qila Gujjar Singh police station by SHO Hammad Hussain. The charges against him include violating the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), inciting religious hatred, causing public disorder, intimidating the judiciary, threatening judges, interfering with official duties, and obstructing legal functions.
According to the FIR, Pir Zaheer Hassan Shah made death threats against Justice Faez Isa during a protest outside the Press Club. He offered a reward of PKR 10 million for anyone who killed the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The FIR also names around 1,500 TLP workers in connection with the case.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stated that strict action would be taken against those threatening the Chief Justice. He condemned Pir Zaheer Hassan Shah's inflammatory remarks and warned that allowing such rhetoric could lead to serious consequences. Asif emphasized that the state will not tolerate any group trying to dictate terms and stressed the need to uphold the rule of law and justice in Pakistan.
