Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) has announced that it will soon launch a new imported electric vehicle (EV) called the "ORA-07 EV." This vehicle is a Completely Built Unit (CBU), meaning it will be imported as a fully assembled car. The company will begin taking bookings for the ORA-07 EV in the coming days.
The announcement was made through a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday. Sazgar Engineering is working to expand its presence in the electric vehicle market, and the ORA-07 EV is expected to attract attention from people interested in eco-friendly transportation options.
ORA is a sub-brand of Great Wall Motors (GWM), a well-known Chinese automotive company that focuses on electric vehicles. GWM is recognized globally and owns other brands like Haval, Ora, and Tank, as well as the innovative tech firm Salon Mecha Technology Co., Ltd.
This launch follows Sazgar’s earlier venture into the electric vehicle market with the Haval Jolion Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), which started pre-booking in April.
In terms of production and sales, Sazgar produced 1,795 three-wheelers in July 2024, out of which 1,624 were sold. For four-wheelers, including off-road and passenger vehicles, the company produced 886 units and sold 825 units in the same month.
It’s also worth noting that Sazgar Engineering Works has been included in the MSCI Frontier Market Index by Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) Inc. This inclusion is expected to bring significant investments, ranging from $3.3 million to $6.6 million, into the company.
Sazgar Engineering Works Limited was established in Pakistan on September 21, 1991, initially as a private limited company. It became a public limited company on November 21, 1994, and is involved in manufacturing and selling automobiles, automotive parts, and household electric appliances.
