Realme, a leading smartphone brand, is introducing a new feature inspired by its top competitor, Apple. Chase Xu, the Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Realme, recently showed off a new camera control feature on an upcoming Realme phone. This feature is similar to the camera control button on the iPhone 16 series.
In a video posted on Weibo, Xu demonstrated this feature, which he called a “button.” However, it’s not a traditional button. Instead, it’s a pressure-sensitive area that uses a special motor to simulate the feeling of pressing a physical button.
This new technology is similar to what Apple uses in its flagship models. The feature allows users to quickly access the camera app and control functions like zoom directly from this pressure-sensitive area. Although it may not look as refined as Apple's version yet, it is likely still in the early stages of development and will be improved before the final product is released.
Xu confirmed that this feature uses technology similar to Apple’s Camera Control button. However, it won’t be part of the upcoming Realme GT7 Pro flagship model but will be available on another, yet-to-be-revealed Realme device.
From Xu’s demonstration, it seems that Realme has been working on this innovation for quite some time. The feature appears to be nearly ready for launch.
