Karachi – The Sindh government, through the Department of Sports, organized the thrilling Karachi Donkey Cart Race, where a donkey named Sartaaj claimed victory for the second year in a row.
The race began at ICI Tower on M. A. Jinnah Road and ended at the Fair Hall, where prizes were distributed. Sartaaj, owned by Arif from Liaquatabad, finished first and took home the grand prize of PKR 100,000. This is not the first time Sartaaj has won – he was also the winner of the Champions Donkey Cart Race.
Top Winners and Prizes
Out of over 40 participants, the following riders stood out:
- 1st Place: Sartaaj (Rider: Arif) – PKR 100,000
- 2nd Place: Bijli (Rider: Tariq) – PKR 75,000
- 3rd Place: Kala (Rider: Zakir) – PKR 50,000
- 4th Place: Chai Pati (Rider: Asghar) – PKR 25,000
The next four positions also received PKR 25,000 each.
Prize Distribution Ceremony
The race concluded with a prize distribution ceremony at the Fair Hall. Abdul Aleem Lashari, the Secretary of Sports, was the chief guest. He awarded prizes and shields to the winners and praised the efforts of the participants.
Support for Donkey Cart Races
Lashari announced that the Sindh government will start registering donkey cart owners to provide them with financial and administrative support. He also emphasized the importance of animal welfare and ensuring that donkeys are well cared for during these events.
He added that the government plans to continue promoting donkey cart racing in Sindh and provide more opportunities for young sports talent.
