A Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday. The explosion killed one person and injured seven others. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said he was shocked, as such an incident had never happened before.
The Las Vegas Police reported that the explosion happened at 8:40 AM. One person was found dead inside the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck, and seven people had minor injuries. Musk said the entire Tesla team is investigating the cause of the fire.
"We’ve never seen anything like this," Elon Musk posted on X (formerly Twitter). The police were cautious because of an earlier attack in New Orleans involving an explosive device.
Eric Trump, son of former President Donald Trump, also shared details of the explosion, saying it occurred at the entrance of the Trump Las Vegas hotel.
In 2024, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) started investigating another fire involving a Tesla semi-truck in California. Experts say fires in electric vehicles like the Tesla Cybertruck are different from regular car fires. They can burn longer and are harder to put out.
