Pakistan’s mobile phone imports declined by 12.04 percent during the first seven months of the fiscal year 2024-25, compared to the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The total value of mobile phones imported stood at $868.551 million from July to January 2024-25, down from $987.447 million recorded in fiscal year 2023-24.
On a year-on-year basis, mobile phone imports fell by 30.66 percent in January 2025, dropping to $135.127 million from $194.866 million in January 2024. The month-on-month trend also showed a 17.23 percent decline, as imports in January 2025 fell from $163.257 million in December 2024.
Despite the drop in mobile phone imports, Pakistan’s total merchandise exports grew by 10.16 percent in the first seven months of FY25, reaching $19.584 billion, compared to $17.777 billion in the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, total imports increased by 7.08 percent, rising from $30.893 billion in FY24 to $33.079 billion in the current fiscal year.
