Trump Revokes Security Clearances of Political Opponents

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has revoked the security clearances of several political opponents, including Vice President Kamala Harris and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. This action, which has sparked significant attention, also affects other prominent figures from both political parties.

According to reports from an international news agency, Trump took steps to cancel the security clearances of Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and other key individuals. As a result, these figures will no longer have access to classified government information.

Trump, who defeated Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and Hillary Clinton in 2016, explained in an official statement that the decision was made because granting them access to sensitive information was no longer in the country's best interest. In addition to Harris and Clinton, Secretary of State Antony Blinken also had his security clearance revoked.

The list of individuals affected by this decision includes former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, a Republican critic of Trump’s administration, as well as Jake Sullivan, former National Security Advisor, and Fiona Hill, a former expert on Russian affairs in the Biden administration.

Moreover, Trump targeted national security attorney Mark Zaid and former Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger, both of whom have been outspoken against him. Notably, Trump had previously revoked Joe Biden’s security clearance, a move that deviated from the tradition of granting former presidents continued access to U.S. intelligence. In 2021, Biden, in turn, revoked Trump’s security clearance as a former president.
