University of Sindh Raises Concerns Over BISP Funds Being Allocated to Encroachers

The University of Sindh has expressed serious concerns over the distribution of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) funds to individuals illegally occupying its land. The administration has urged authorities to halt financial assistance that is being used for construction on encroached university property.

In an official statement, Registrar Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jariko revealed that Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman Khoumbhati has taken notice of payments being made to encroachers, including Jalal Mari, who have unlawfully settled on university-owned land near Pir Badeji, adjacent to the Sindh University Employees Co-operative Housing Society and the railway line.

The university has called on BISP authorities to immediately reassess disbursements and take steps to prevent further misuse of funds.

The statement also highlighted multiple other illegal settlements on Sindh University Township Scheme Land, including areas near LUMHS, the railway station, and the university’s water supply line.

Emphasizing the urgency of addressing the issue, the university administration has urged government authorities and law enforcement agencies to take necessary legal action to protect its property from further encroachments.
