The University of Sindh has raised concerns about the misuse of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) funds being allocated to individuals illegally occupying university land. The administration has called for halting the financial assistance being used for construction on encroached property.
In an official statement, Registrar Prof. Dr. Mushtaque Ali Jariko mentioned that Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman Khoumbhati is aware of payments made to encroachers, such as Jalal Mari, who have settled on university land near Pir Badeji, next to the Sindh University Employees Co-operative Housing Society and the railway line.
The university has requested that BISP authorities immediately reassess the disbursements to prevent further misuse of funds.
The statement also pointed out several other illegal settlements on Sindh University Township Scheme Land, including near LUMHS, the railway station, and the university’s water supply line.
The university emphasized the need for urgent action and has called on government authorities and law enforcement to protect the property from further encroachments.
