Indian troops in occupied Kashmir have again escalated their state-sponsored brutality, martyring a young Kashmiri in what appears to be a staged encounter in Bandipora district. The victim had been detained just one day prior to being killed in what the Indian army described as an "encounter."
Human rights activists and Kashmiri political parties have condemned the incident as another extrajudicial killing in the disputed region.
Growing Pattern of Violence
In a separate incident, the body of another young Kashmiri was discovered in Poonch district, raising further concerns about the increasing number of suspicious deaths and disappearances under Indian occupation.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the BJP-led Indian government's oppressive policies, describing their actions as "barbaric and inhumane." The pro-freedom alliance has called on the United Nations and international community to urgently address the worsening human rights situation in Kashmir.
Protests Against Demographic Changes
These developments come amid a valley-wide strike organized by resistance leaders protesting two controversial measures:
- The Waqf Amendment Law
- Distribution of domiciles to non-local settlers
Kashmiris view these policies as deliberate attempts at demographic engineering designed to dilute their cultural identity and political rights. Many believe India is systematically working to disenfranchise native Kashmiris and suppress their legitimate demand for self-determination.
"India is changing the demographic character of our homeland through these illegal measures," said one protester. "They want to turn our Muslim-majority region into another Hindu-dominated territory."
False Flag Operations Alleged
The Hurriyat Conference has accused India of planning false flag operations to discredit the Kashmiri freedom movement. They warn that such tactics aim to justify further crackdowns by labeling peaceful resistance as terrorism.
Despite severe restrictions imposed since the August 2019 revocation of Article 370 - including:
- Mass arrests
- Strict lockdowns
- Nighttime curfews
Kashmiris continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience against what they describe as colonial-style repression.
International Response
The Bandipora killing follows India's established pattern of staging fake encounters to terrorize the local population. While human rights organizations demand independent investigations, little accountability has been achieved.
As international criticism of India's actions in Kashmir grows louder, calls for UN intervention have intensified. Meanwhile, the people of Kashmir remain trapped in an unending cycle of state violence and oppression.
