Air Punjab Takes Flight
In a landmark decision, Punjab is set to launch Pakistan's first provincial airline, Air Punjab, within the next 8-12 months.
The airline will begin operations with four leased Airbus aircraft, initially serving domestic routes. "This is a historic moment for Punjab that will revolutionize regional connectivity," stated Information Minister Azma Bukhari during a press briefing.
High-Speed Rail Revolution
In a parallel development, the provincial government has approved a bullet train connecting Lahore and Rawalpindi, reducing travel time to approximately 2.5 hours. The project will be developed in collaboration with Pakistan Railways, with potential public-private partnerships to accelerate implementation.
Strategic Importance
Minister Bukhari emphasized that Punjab is pioneering provincial-level railway modernization in Pakistan. She also noted the continued significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in national development, despite opposition from certain quarters.
These transportation initiatives mark a significant leap forward in Punjab's infrastructure development, promising to enhance regional connectivity and economic growth across the province.
