Cloudflare, a major provider of internet infrastructure and website security, experienced significant disruptions on Tuesday, causing widespread outages across several platforms, including the social media site X.
The company confirmed the issue on its official status page, reporting “widespread 500 errors,” along with failures affecting its dashboard, API, and other key services. Many users of X and other sites relying on Cloudflare were met with internal server errors and advised to try again after a few minutes.

The outage also briefly impacted tracking services like Down Detector, which reported a surge in user complaints. Cloudflare attributed the issue to “internal service degradation” and initially stated that teams were working to restore functionality as quickly as possible.
“We are working to understand the full impact and mitigate this problem. More updates to follow shortly,” Cloudflare said in an early response.
As the day progressed, Cloudflare reported signs of recovery, noting that while services were improving, some customers might still experience higher-than-normal error rates. The company also confirmed that it had deployed changes to restore dashboard services, though broader application services were still being addressed.
Cybersecurity monitoring group NetBlocks confirmed that the disruption was global in nature and not related to any country-specific internet shutdowns or filtering.
Cloudflare stated it would continue to provide updates as it worked to fully restore services.
