Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk in Moscow on Tuesday after the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting. Both leaders reviewed the overall relationship between Pakistan and Russia.
Their discussion covered many areas, including politics, trade, energy, regional connectivity, agriculture, industry, education, and people-to-people cooperation. They agreed that regular and organised dialogue is important for long-term progress.
Overchuk, who recently visited Pakistan, said that Pakistan has strong potential to become a regional transit and connectivity hub. He added that Russia is interested in expanding joint projects that can support regional trade and improve infrastructure.
Dar and Overchuk also discussed important regional and global developments. They agreed to continue close coordination at both bilateral and international platforms, including the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Both leaders said they are confident that continued high-level engagement will further strengthen Pakistan–Russia relations and create new opportunities for cooperation in key sectors.
