Ali Amin Gandapur has resigned from his position as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He shared this news on Facebook after PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) confirmed that he was being removed from the post.
Gandapur said he stepped down on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan. He also supported Sohail Afridi as the next chief minister and promised to help him. Gandapur said the party would continue to work together as a team.
PTI leader Salman Akram Raja also confirmed the change. Speaking in Rawalpindi, he said Imran Khan made the decision. Raja said Afridi would soon be elected by the provincial assembly.
Raja added that PTI will soon announce a new policy and direction. He said the focus will be on keeping the party united and gaining more public support.
He also spoke about the increasing terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, blaming the federal government for its poor policies. Raja criticized the recent decision to send Afghan nationals back to Afghanistan, calling it unnecessary.
He also criticized Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, saying that although he was the foreign minister for over a year, he never visited Afghanistan. Raja said peace can only come through talks, not by using force.
Gandapur’s removal comes after reports of problems within PTI. He had a public argument with Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan. Both accused each other of trying to control the party.
Imran Khan later told them to stop speaking publicly. He warned that vloggers were causing problems in the party by promoting Aleema as a future leader.
Gandapur also claimed that some of Imran Khan’s relatives were supporting the idea of Aleema becoming the party chairperson or even the prime minister.
