Iran Signals Readiness for Dialogue and Defense Amid Ongoing Tensions

Iran has proposed a framework aimed at achieving a permanent end to the ongoing conflict, according to Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs.

He stated that Tehran has already shared its proposals with Pakistan, which is currently playing a mediating role in efforts to ease tensions and promote diplomatic engagement in the region.

Gharibabadi emphasized that Iran remains open to dialogue based on mutual interests, while stressing that any political solution must address long-term stability and regional concerns. He noted that the responsibility now lies with the United States to determine whether it will continue confrontation or shift toward diplomacy.

Speaking at a meeting with ambassadors and heads of foreign missions in Tehran, the Iranian official reiterated that Iran is fully prepared to respond to any aggression. At the same time, he reaffirmed that diplomacy remains Iran’s preferred approach for resolving disputes.

He further added that Iran has consistently supported initiatives aimed at reducing regional tensions, although it continues to prioritize its national security and strategic interests.

According to Gharibabadi, while Iran remains cautious and skeptical toward the United States, it still maintains diplomatic channels and keeps the door open for negotiations.

He concluded by stating that Iran is prepared for both dialogue and defense if circumstances require it.

The tensions escalated following strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran on February 28. Since April 8, active hostilities have largely subsided, with Pakistan having already facilitated an initial round of talks between the concerned parties.
