
Karachi hit by heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds, causing power outages and damage in many parts of the city. Authorities have declared a high alert as the weather system continues to affect both urban and suburban areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, wind speeds reached up to 97 km/h. The storm started from the outskirts and quickly spread to several areas, including North Nazimabad, Surjani Town, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Malir, and Karachi Airport.

The severe weather caused roofs to be blown off houses, trees to fall, and windows to break. Solar panels and signboards were also damaged due to strong winds. Heavy rain led to waterlogging in many areas, creating problems for residents, especially those out for Eid shopping. Many people were stranded in markets, streets, and shopping centres.

Rainfall was recorded across the city, with the highest in Korangi at 55.6 mm. Other areas like Gulistan-e-Johar, DHA Phase 2, and Maripur also received noticeable rainfall.
Emergency services have been fully activated. Rescue teams are working with local authorities to respond quickly to incidents. Citizens have been advised to stay away from electric poles, exposed wires, and flooded areas. People are also urged to avoid unnecessary travel and be careful while driving.
The electricity provider warned residents not to use electrical appliances in standing water and to avoid illegal connections, as they can be very dangerous. Their teams are working to restore power in affected areas.

Police and traffic officials have been deployed across the city to manage traffic and assist people. Special attention is being given to low-lying areas where flooding is more likely.

City officials confirmed that emergency response teams are active, and a central control room has been set up to coordinate rescue efforts. Teams are working around the clock to help residents and manage the situation.
Authorities have also warned that strict action will be taken against any negligence in handling the crisis. Citizens are encouraged to stay indoors, follow safety instructions, and contact emergency services if needed.
