Petrol, Diesel Prices to Remain Unchanged for Sunday and Monday

The federal government has announced that petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices will remain unchanged on Sunday and Monday under the country’s new daily fuel pricing system.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, petrol will continue to cost Rs335.18 per litre, while high-speed diesel will remain at Rs383.46 per litre.

The Petroleum Division said the prices will stay the same on July 26 and 27 because Platts international oil price data is not published on weekends, making it impossible to calculate new daily rates.

The announcement comes just one day after the government increased petrol prices by Rs3.66 per litre and diesel prices by Rs4.80 per litre. Those hikes marked the fifth straight increase since Pakistan introduced daily fuel price revisions.

Although prices have been kept unchanged for two days, the latest rates remain in effect.

During the past week, petrol prices have increased by a total of Rs24.47 per litre, while high-speed diesel has gone up by Rs60.16 per litre under the new pricing system.

Last week, the government replaced the old weekly pricing method with a daily system. Under the new mechanism, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) sets petrol and diesel prices based on the average international oil prices over the previous seven days.

Officials say the new system allows fuel prices to better reflect changes in global oil markets and makes the pricing process more transparent.

High-speed diesel is mainly used in transport, farming, and industries, while petrol prices directly affect private vehicle owners, public transport operators, and millions of commuters across the country.
