The Sindh government has implemented a comprehensive new set of traffic fines to combat reckless driving, with penalties reaching up to Rs. 100,000 for the gravest offenses. The updated regulations, announced this week, target speeding, dangerous driving, underage operators, one-wheeling, drunk driving, and other hazardous behaviors on the road.

According to the new rules, motorcyclists caught exceeding speed limits will be fined Rs. 5,000, while drivers of cars and jeeps will face a Rs. 10,000 penalty. Public service and light transport vehicles will be fined Rs. 15,000, and heavy transport vehicles will incur a Rs. 20,000 fine for the same violation.

Strict fines have also been introduced for driving without a valid license: Rs. 20,000 for car drivers, Rs. 25,000 for those operating public service and light transport vehicles, and Rs. 30,000 for heavy transport vehicle drivers.

Reckless or negligent driving now incurs fines of Rs. 25,000 for drivers of cars and jeeps, and Rs. 50,000 for those operating public service and heavy transport vehicles. Additionally, driving against traffic on a one-way street will result in penalties of Rs. 25,000 for motorcyclists, Rs. 30,000 for car drivers, Rs. 50,000 for public service vehicles, and Rs. 100,000 for heavy transport vehicles.

Driving on the wrong side of the road is also punishable, with fines set at Rs. 5,000 for motorcyclists, Rs. 10,000 for car drivers, Rs. 15,000 for public service vehicle operators, and Rs. 20,000 for heavy vehicle drivers.
