Big update for MDCAT students! The Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has officially rescheduled the MDCAT 2026 exam.
What changed?
- The exam was first planned for 16th August 2026.
- It has now been moved to 20th September 2026.
- This decision was made on the direction of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
- PMDC issued an official notice about this on 6th August 2026.
Why was it delayed?
According to PMDC, the decision was taken “in the best public interest,” to make sure the exam is conducted in a smooth, secure, and transparent way for all candidates. This comes at the same time as a related case in the Lahore High Court, where a hearing about a possible MDCAT delay was also rescheduled — though the court had not issued any final order before PMDC made its own announcement.
What stays the same?
PMDC says all other rules, terms, and exam arrangements will remain unchanged — unless they announce something new later.
What should students do?
- Keep preparing — you now have extra time.
- Keep checking the official PMDC website (pmdc.pk) for updates.
- Don’t rely on rumors — only trust official PMDC notices.
Lahore High Court – No Final Order Yet
The LHC hearing on the MDCAT delay case was rescheduled, and a new hearing date has not yet been announced.
No final LHC ruling delaying MDCAT 2026 was found in reports — the court hearing and the official exam schedule are two separate things.
Reports say the court hearing itself was rescheduled, with a new date to be announced later, but this does not mean the court ordered the exam to be postponed.
What Actually Changed the Exam Date
PMDC itself announced the new exam date — moving MDCAT 2026 from 16 August to 20 September 2026 — on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to make the test process smoother, more secure, and easier for candidates.
The Nation
So the actual postponement came through a PMDC/government decision, not a Lahore High Court order.
Bottom Line
- The LHC case is still pending — no verdict on it yet.
- The exam date change (16 Aug → 20 Sep) came from PMDC’s official notice, backed by PM Shehbaz Sharif’s directive — not from a court ruling.
Students should keep watching PMDC’s official channels (pmdc.pk) for further updates, since the court case is still open and could produce its own order later.
